Major Sugar Smith is the founder of the Sugarettes.  Her vision, compassion, direction, and love for Christ have influenced over a thousand girls.

An accomplished twirler her self, she found a passion for baton twirling at an early age. After she retired from competing, she began judging and coaching.

Sugar coached many national and world champions. Under her direction, the Sugarettes won many National and World Corps Championship titles, and traveled to Holland, England, France, Germany and Hawaii.

Her reputation and achievements gained her respect throughout the twirling world. She has been honored for her contributions through many rewards and honors.  She received the highest honor in the National Baton Twirling Association, the title of Major, in 1988.

She continues to be an inspiration and motivating force behind the Sugarettes.
