Sugarette Baton Twirling

Holly James has been with the Sugarette since, well, birth.  She feels so fortunate to have been born into such a great family with a fantastic legacy.

Holly first competed with the team at the age of 2 and has loved being a member ever since. She was the leader for three years and was even given the title of Outstanding Leader of the Year at AYOP.

After graduating from high school, she remained a member of the Sugarettes as well as the feature twirler for the University of Missouri Columbia. A few other awards she is proud of was being selected as a Good Will Ambassador and traveled to Peru. Holly also placed 4th in the College Solo World Open competition.

After she graduated from Mizzou she became a teacher at Fort Zumwalt South High School. It was at that point she became a director of the Sugarettes.

She says the most amazing thing about being a director is seeing first hand what a fantastic job her mother, Major Sugar Smith did, as well as realizing God's purpose and infinite mercy.
